Cover Story: Pierce County Sherriff's Office

In 1990, our Department started receiving information about a meth cook, known on the street as Grandpa Pat. He was described as a white male, gray beard, gray hair, balding, approximately 65 years of age, multiple previous arrests. Ultimately, an informant provided a name, and a records check confirmed multiple arrests for that name. However, there was a significant difference in the age of the individual described, and the individual named. Therefore the named individual's previous booking photos were pulled, and it was discovered that the last photo taken appeared to accurately match the description previously provided.

The toll that cooking and using meth can take on the human body was demonstrated by this group of photos taken over an 11 year period. The "65-year-old man" in the 1990 photo was in reality 34. "Grandpa Pat" is currently residing in a controlled living environment.
